about

I usually have some trouble sleeping at night unless there's some sort of music on, and this past semester I've been listening to almost exclusively the music from people like Enya, Secret Garden, and The Innocence Mission, as well as a lot of French impressionism like the music of Debussy, Faure, and Ravel, especially their pieces of "fantasie" or their childrens' works. These are the kind of things inspiring me most recently, pieces of music lacking pretense or detachment and fully embracing humanity and emotion and reverie and the feeling of living among things larger than yourself. And that's a lot of talk for a collection of very short, practically unfinished pieces, but Ben and I decided we should get all this material stewing around in my head out onto a piano and my dad wanted to hear it. All tracks are composed by me except track 6 (Max Richter) and 7 and 9 (folk melodies). Also, listen to this while you go to sleep.
